What the figure includes

In Eurostat dataset APRO_CPSH1, the value for Poland, 2025 and cultivated mushrooms is 308.3 thousand tonnes. The data were retrieved on 8 September 2026. Converting the unit gives 308,300 tonnes; the extra zeros do not make the underlying measurement more precise.

“Cultivated mushrooms” is a defined statistical category. This account does not label the entire quantity as production of one species or as exports. Production mass alone cannot show how much reached domestic shops, was processed or was sold abroad. Those distinctions need additional data.

Why it does not describe a woodland season

Cultivation takes place within production systems, with prepared substrates and harvesting cycles. Eurostat's definition distinguishes the category within agricultural statistics. Its presence in an agricultural dataset does not change the biological classification of fungi.

A tonne of product is also different from a field observation or a species in an atlas. Production can rise without any corresponding change in the diversity of fungi in Polish woodland. Comparing those counters is useful only when their different questions and units remain explicit.

How the indicator should be updated

The result has both a reference year and a retrieval date. Statistical offices can revise their data, so a later download may differ. Crop-production metadata describe the scope and changes in data collection. Before constructing a long-term trend, the periods must be checked for comparability. This entry preserves one clearly documented benchmark and does not calculate growth from an unexamined mixture of methods.
