MykoRadar is a free, independent project about fungi. This edition covers the world: research, records, places and the people who changed what we know.
What this edition is
mykoradar.com is the whole of our world coverage, in English. Twelve sections take in news and discoveries, sourced curiosities, statistics with their units and methods, newly described species, museums and fungaria, events, the history of mycology, country profiles, people, travel, culture and conservation.
Every entry is written by us from a named source, dated, and linked back to where it came from. Where a claim is contested we say so: each entry carries a credibility mark — peer-reviewed, corroborated, reported, disputed, or a myth.
What lives on the Polish site instead
The observation map, the species atlas, the poisonous-lookalike comparisons, field reports, the mushroom calendar and the regional pages for Poland’s 16 voivodeships all cover Poland specifically. Translating them would advertise a service that does not apply outside it, so they stay at mykoradar.pl. Entries that exist in both languages link to each other directly.
Free — and how it is paid for
The site is free in full: no account, no paywall, no paid tier, and no user data for sale. What pays the bills is advertising through Google AdSense, alongside voluntary reader support.
Adverts are labelled, kept out of the safety pages, and never a condition of reading anything. Before Google stores anything on your device you are asked, and declining changes nothing about what you can read — see the Cookie Policy. Our visit counts are collected without cookies and without asking, because nothing is stored on your device to ask about.
How the entries are made
Sourcing, credibility marks and the limits of what we publish are set out in the methodology. Corrections are welcome and usually quick — write to us.
An important caveat
Nothing here is a guide to picking or eating mushrooms. Information about edibility is educational, and no mushroom should be eaten on the strength of a website — ours or anyone else’s. Country pages describe the rules on picking as we found them on a stated date; confirm them locally before you travel.
