Telluride Mushroom Festival 2026

The Telluride Mushroom Festival will take place from 12 to 16 August 2026 in Telluride, Colorado. The organiser, the Telluride Institute, announces talks, workshops, forays, art events and community gatherings. The programme covers identification, cultivation, ecology, research into psychoactive substances and the culture of fungi, so it is neither purely a fair nor a foraging course.

Telluride sits high in the San Juan Mountains. Anyone joining a foray should be prepared for the altitude, sudden changes in weather, strong sun and uneven trails. Buying a pass does not in itself guarantee a place at every activity; some workshops and forays may require separate booking. The festival runs across the whole town, not in a single building marked by the profile's coordinates. The map point leads to the centre of Telluride. The official site was checked on 30 July 2026 and on that day confirmed the dates of 12–16 August.

What a field foray actually required

The official festival guide placed Telluride in a San Juan Mountains box canyon and required check-in at the foray tent: participants had to present the reservation name or QR code, locate their group and leader, and then settle transport and car-pooling. Each festival pass included one foray; booking used a separate form, while some venues and workshops were capacity-limited or first-come, first-served. The organiser warned that August monsoons can bring rain and sudden mountain cold, recommending layers, a rain jacket, water and hiking footwear.
